A Night for the Records

Well, four races done, and including last year, Autumn Trail Series racers have covered a total of 1,269 miles.  That's pretty impressive!  This year, we experienced huge growth with a total number of 117 participants.

Last night was a lot of fun, and people went home with a lot of great prizes.  Once again, amazing weather.  I know, no need to thank me, but I did order it up just for the occasion.  There was a record attendance of 75 runners, and the cooler temperature allowed them to get around the course in record speed.   Both the men's and women's course records were set by the winners, both beating their own previous best times, with Dave Duede finishing the 5.8k course in 19:57 and Jamie Cheever finishing in 21:31.  That's smokin'!

At the awards ceremony, prizes were awarded to overall top-three in the series and age-group winners.  Everyone of those people received a jumbo-size raisin walnut cinnamon roll from Tom and Sally at the Linden Hills Great Harvest.  Prizes were also provided by Twin Cities Running Co and Salomon.  Eight pairs of Salomon XT Wing trail shoes were awarded as prizes or raffle items.  We also cleaned house in the raffle and sent a lot of people home with Salomon swag.  Two racers were honored for their perfect attendance of every race of the trail series since its founding in 2009, they were Matthew Rantala and Scott Maus.

Final series standings and last night results are available on the results page.

Thanks everyone for a great series and enjoy the rest of autumn!

That's right, we need your unwanted running shoes for our trail series shoe drive.  We want your shoes of any type, in fact.  Here are the specifics:

  • Used athletic shoes, no sandals or cleats.
  • They will be broken down, and the materials used to create athletic playing surfaces.

  • New or gently used shoes of ANY style.
  • These will be distributed to people in need around the country and world.

We're off to a great start, but I think we can do better, so clean out your closets and see you next Wednesday the 13th!

Standings After 3 Races

A few little shake ups in the standings after three races, however, what is most exciting is how close many people are in points going into the fourth race.  It should be an exciting showdown for overall places and age group place, so don't miss it!  We will be awarding prizes for top-three overall, open and master leaders, and 10-year age group leaders.  Prizes will not be mailed, so don't miss out!  See you all in two weeks on October 13th.

Results 9-29-10

What a great night for a race!  One couldn't have order up any better weather.  53 racers completed the 5.8k course.  Jamie Cheever seems untouchable as the women's leader, finishing fourth overall tonight.  Laura Oliver and Josie Nelson finished second and third, respectively.  We had a new winner on the men's side with the debut of Kurt Keiser, however, his time was still 8 seconds short of Dave Duede's course record from Race #1.  Duede finished third, with Paul Donnelly placing second for the third consecutive race.

Here are tonight's race results.
